Help for career changers

By Nancy Osazee, Founder. Checked 10 October 2026.

Keep your real job titles. Change the order and the proof so they meet the advert in front of you. A career change without evidence reads as a wish.

The first role should be one where you can do at least half the duties now. The no-experience jobs page is only for adverts that say no experience or entry-level.

  • A CV for a career change

A career-change CV is still a record of jobs you did. The change is the order and the wording. Lead with the skills this advert named, and show where you used them.

  • Explaining a career change

The useful answer is four sentences: what you do now, what you want to do, why, and the evidence you have already started. Motivation without evidence sounds like a whim.

  • The first role in a new field

The first role does not have to be the final one. It does have to be a job you can do in the first month with the skills you listed honestly.

Questions

Should I hide my old career?

No. Explain it in four sentences and show the overlap.

Can one CV serve every application?

No. The worksheet is filled against one advert.

Where do I find a bridge role?

On the main jobs list, read the duties. Use the no-experience page only when the advert uses that wording.
