Job Title: Workshop Engineer Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Location: Consett Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am-4.30pm & Fridays 6am-2.30pm Salary: From £25,000 Industry: Materials Testing / Engineering Job Description We're looking for a Workshop Engineer to join our Materials Testing team, preparing precision metal test samples used in a variety of engineering and industrial projects. This is a hands-on role where you'll work with machinery, tooling and materials to support critical testing activities. Full training can be provided for the right person. What You'll Be Doing Operating workshop and machining equipment safely and effectively. Preparing precision metal samples for testing. Maintaining quality and traceability throughout the production process. Supporting laboratory and engineering teams with technical requirements. Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales. Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, quality and safety. Contributing to continuous improvement and efficient workshop operations. Qualifications What We're Looking For We're looking for practical, reliable individuals who enjoy working with their hands, take pride in producing high-quality work, and have a strong attention to detail. This role could suit candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including: Engineering or manufacturing, Production or assembly, CNC or machining environments, Automotive or vehicle maintenance, Mechanical fitting or fabrication, Welding and metalwork, or Construction trades. You'll Bring A practical and hands-on approach to work. Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality. The ability to follow processes and work safely. A positive attitude and willingness to learn. Strong teamwork and communication skills. The ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines. Reliability, flexibility and a strong work ethic.
