Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour Postcode: RH16 2UA Monday to Friday – 10:00am to 2:00pm 20 hours per week Temporary Position until 23 October 2026 We are recruiting for a School Catering Assistant to work within a busy primary school in Haywards Heath. This is a daytime, Monday-to-Friday position supporting the school kitchen team with the preparation and service of meals to pupils and staff. Duties Assisting with the preparation of school meals Serving meals to pupils and staff Setting up dining and service areas Supporting the kitchen team during lunch service Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment Cleaning work surfaces, kitchen and dining areas Following food hygiene and allergen procedures Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Requirements Food Safety Level 2 certificate – essential Allergen Awareness certificate – essential Enhanced DBS preferred Previous catering, kitchen or school-meals experience preferred Good understanding of food hygiene standards Reliable and punctual Comfortable working within a school environment Able to work Monday to Friday for the duration of the assignment Benefits Monday: 10:00am – 2:00pm Tuesday: 10:00am – 2:00pm Wednesday: 10:00am – 2:00pm Thursday: 10:00am – 2:00pm Friday: 10:00am – 2:00pm Total: 20 hours per week Pay £13.50 per hour Temporary position until 23 October 2026.
