Scope of Work: At Kent, we are continuously growing and evolving, and we are always looking for talented individuals to join our team. Due to a strong pipeline of offshore structural projects, together with several recent project awards, we have an immediate requirement for an Offshore Structural Consultant with a primary technical specialism in offshore concrete structures at Subject Matter Expert (SME) level. This is an opportunity to play a leading technical role in supporting clients across the offshore energy sector, providing specialist engineering expertise for the assessment, life extension, integrity management, and decommissioning of offshore concrete structures. Deliverables Key Deliverables: • Act as the SME for offshore concrete structures, providing technical leadership and specialist engineering expertise while delivering work within agreed schedules and budgets. • Provide technical support and consultancy for offshore concrete projects across the oil and gas and offshore wind sectors within the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) and internationally. • Lead and contribute to technical studies associated with structural integrity management, life extension and decommissioning of offshore concrete structures. • Provide expert technical input to multidisciplinary project teams and client organisations. • Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, methodologies, and engineering assessments. • Present technical work and engineering recommendations to clients through reports, presentations, workshops, and meetings, both virtually and face-to-face. • Deliver high-quality engineering outputs while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and internal procedures. Key Requirements: • Master’s degree (Honours) or equivalent qualification in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Fellow status with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), or an equivalent professional body. • Recognised industry expert in the assessment, integrity management, or decommissioning of offshore concrete structures. • Extensive experience in the offshore energy industry, with particular expertise in concrete gravity-based structures (GBS) and other offshore concrete assets. • Strong understanding of offshore structural engineering principles and relevant industry codes, standards, and recommended practices. • Proven ability to provide technical leadership and deliver specialist consultancy services to clients. • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence and quality. Preferred Experience • Demonstrable SME-level experience in one or more of the following areas: • Leading technical studies to support the OEUK Comparative Assessment process for the decommissioning and potential derogation of offshore concrete structures. • Assessment and management of degradation mechanisms affecting offshore concrete structures, including reinforcement corrosion, cracking, fatigue, and long-term durability. • Development of life extension, structural integrity, and structural assessments for offshore concrete assets. • Application of UKCS regulatory requirements and industry guidance relating to the decommissioning of offshore concrete structures. • Preparation and technical review of decommissioning programmes and supporting documentation. • Experience working with offshore concrete gravity-based structures throughout their operational, life-extension, and decommissioning phases. Desirable Attributes • Ability to influence and engage with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders. • Experience providing technical assurance and independent peer review. • A strong professional network within the offshore energy and decommissioning sectors. • A passion for innovation and the development of technically robust, practical engineering solutions.
