The role provides strategic leadership, technical oversight, and operational governance for all commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and client handover. The Senior Commissioning Manager will establish commissioning best practices, develop team capability, drive consistency across projects, and ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of commissioning works. The position acts as the primary escalation point for commissioning-related matters and works closely with Project Management, Engineering, Sales, Service, and Customer stakeholders to achieve world-class project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Management • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Commissioning Managers across EMEA. • Establish performance objectives, development plans, and succession planning for direct reports. • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. • Provide technical and managerial guidance to project commissioning teams. • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training activities within the commissioning function. • Drive resource planning and allocation across multiple projects and regions. Commissioning Management • Oversee the commissioning delivery strategy for multiple concurrent projects. • Ensure commissioning activities are executed in accordance with client requirements, contractual obligations, and company standards. • Standardise commissioning methodologies, documentation, and reporting across the region. • Monitor project progress and intervene where required to maintain schedule, quality, and safety objectives. • Review and approve commissioning plans, scripts, procedures, and reports. • Support Level 2 through Level 5 commissioning activities and Integrated Systems Testing. Operational Excellence • Develop and implement best practices to improve commissioning efficiency and project delivery performance. • Track regional commissioning metrics and KPI performance. • Identify opportunities to improve utilisation, productivity, and cost efficiency. • Lead lessons learned reviews and implement corrective actions across the business. • Ensure consistency in commissioning execution throughout all Market Units and project teams. Customer & Stakeholder Management • Act as senior commissioning representative for strategic clients and major projects. • Participate in customer reviews, project governance meetings, and executive briefings. • Support project teams in resolving technical and commercial issues. • Build strong relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and commissioning agents. • Escalate risks and issues as appropriate while driving timely resolution. Technical Leadership • Provide technical oversight for electrical, mechanical, control systems, thermal infrastructure, and integrated solutions commissioning activities. • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, commissioning specifications, and operational requirements. • Support engineering teams with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical issue resolution. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and product feedback processes. Health, Safety & Quality • Champion a zero-harm safety culture across all commissioning activities. • Ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory health and safety requirements. • Conduct commissioning governance reviews, audits, and risk assessments. • Promote quality-first execution and adherence to approved commissioning procedures. • Empower teams to stop work where unsafe conditions exist. Required Qualifications Education • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline. Experience * 10+ years' experience in commissioning, project delivery, or critical infrastructure environments. • Proven experience managing large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects. • Demonstrated success leading and developing commissioning teams. • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, thermal, control systems, and integrated commissioning processes. • Experience managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
