Job Details
Would you like to work for an award-winning Planning Service?
Fife Council's Planning, Climate and Sustainability Service is recruiting a
Chartered Planner (RTPI) (FC8) to join one of our Development Management teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to
play a key role in shaping the future of Fife. The successful candidate will
manage a varied caseload of planning applications, provide professional planning
advice, engage with applicants, agents and communities, and contribute to the
delivery of high-quality outcomes across the area.
Fife offers a unique planning environment, combining major settlements, thriving
towns and villages, coastal communities and rural areas. As a result, the
postholder will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of development
proposals, including housing, commercial, tourism, renewable energy,
agricultural and community developments.
Working within a supportive and experienced team, you will be involved in all
aspects of mainstream development management, from pre-application discussions
through to the determination of planning applications, helping to deliver
sustainable growth and create successful places across Fife.
This is a permanent FC8 post operating on a hybrid basis. The Service currently
has office-based collaboration days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with homeworking
for the remainder of the working week where operationally appropriate.
We offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits including flexible working
arrangements, access to learning and development opportunities, a local
government pension scheme, employee discounts and wellbeing support.
The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Chartered Planner who is
passionate about delivering high-quality development and creating successful
places. Ideally,
you will have a proven track record in a Development Management
role, supported by excellent communication and relationship-building skills,
sound professional judgement and a positive, solution-focused approach to your
work. You will be confident in managing a varied caseload, balancing competing
interests and providing clear, professional advice to applicants, agents,
consultees, elected members and local communities.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a supportive team, you
will be organised, adaptable and motivated by the opportunity to assess a
diverse range of planning applications and help shape the future of Fife's
urban, rural and coastal communities.
We are committed to supporting our planners to develop and thrive in their
careers. The successful candidate will have access to an extensive Continuing
Professional Development (CPD) programme, providing opportunities to enhance
professional skills, broaden experience and support ongoing career progression
within an award-winning Planning Service.
Applicants must hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Town and Country
Planning and be a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
Membership must be maintained throughout employment in this post and should be
clearly stated within your application.
