The Role: The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for leading daily cleaning
operations across GBS campuses to ensure safe, hygienic, and welcoming
environments for students, staff, and visitors. The role combines hands-on
duties with operational leadership, driving quality standards, statutory
compliance, sustainability goals, and excellent service delivery.

What the Role Involves:
• Supervise and motivate cleaning operatives across shifts, ensuring high
standards and compliance with cleaning procedures.
• Plan daily rotas and staffing, coordinating agency support when required.
• Oversee cleaning of classrooms, offices, libraries, washrooms, receptions,
and external areas.
• Ensure compliance with colour‑coding, infection control, COSHH, and health &
safety standards.
• Manage stock levels, order consumables, and complete monthly stocktakes.
• Carry out equipment checks, report defects, and maintain safe operation.
• Support general and deep-clean tasks, replenishing washroom and hygiene
supplies.
• Assist with waste management and recycling processes.
• Prepare KPI reports and maintain accurate records for the Facilities Manager.
• Manage the training matrix, support inductions, and refresher training, and
promote continuous improvement.
About You:
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, manual handling, and risk
assessments.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and quality standards.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills; able to
prioritise and adapt.
• Experience with rotas, work allocation, audits, and compliance
record‑keeping.
• Confident using email, MS Office, and basic IT systems.
• Practical knowledge of professional cleaning chemicals for different
surfaces.
• Flexible, proactive, and able to work independently to meet service
standards.
Desirable
• BICSc qualification or membership.
• IOSH Working/Managing Safely and First Aid at Work.
• Experience in education, public‑facing venues, or similar environments.
• Experience supporting waste reduction and sustainability initiatives.
