Are you passionate about marine environments and sustainability? Join us for a 12-month placement where you’ll play a key role in managing the Board’s Environmental Management System and conducting environmental monitoring within Dover Harbour and its approaches.  This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact on environmental stewardship in one of the UK’s busiest ports. We are looking for this placement to commence August 2027 and continue through to July 20 28. What You’ll Do • Assist in the management of the Environmental Management System • Carry out environmental monitoring in and around Dover Harbour • Support initiatives that ensure safe and sustainable environmental practices What We’re Looking For • Completion of second year of a BSc degree in a relevant subject • Field and practical experience in environmental monitoring • Understanding of species, ecosystems, habitats, and the natural and human influences on them • Familiarity with marine environmental management and monitoring techniques • Good working knowledge of MS Office and basic GIS understanding • Awareness of how weather impacts ocean conditions • Strong organisation skills and a proactive approach to sustainability • Ability to work near/on water and on floating craft • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Why Join Us? • Gain practical experience in a unique marine environment • Work alongside experts committed to environmental improvement • Contribute to sustainability initiatives that make a difference Start your journey toward a career in environmental management with us Benefits • On-site accommodation available at a competitive rate • 5 weeks annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata) • Generous contributory pension scheme • Private Health Care • Life assurance • Employee assistance programme • 3rd party discounts • Benefits and reward platform • Free Parking Hours of work: 37.5 per week (Monday • Friday) Salary: IRO £18,000 All offers of employment are subject to us obtaining satisfactory references (covering all education, training, employment and unemployment in the preceding 5 years) and there will be a pre-employment medical including a Drug and Alcohol test.
