Our client based in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Adult Safeguarding Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to work with adults at risk, undertaking safeguarding interventions that promote safety, wellbeing, independence, and positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will work within a specialist Adult Safeguarding service, undertaking complex safeguarding enquiries, risk assessments, and statutory social work interventions. Working collaboratively with individuals, carers, families, health professionals, care providers, and partner agencies, you will play a key role in protecting vulnerable adults while ensuring that strengths-based and person-centred practice remain at the heart of all decision-making.
This role requires a confident Social Worker with strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to manage complex cases involving risk, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and self-neglect.
What will your responsibilities be?
In this role, you will:
Managing a caseload of adults at risk and undertaking safeguarding interventions in line with Adult Safeguarding legislation and procedures.
Leading and coordinating Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries in accordance with the Care Act 20

Undertaking strengths-based assessments, reviews, and support planning to identify needs and achieve positive outcomes.
Assessing and managing risk effectively, ensuring safeguarding concerns are addressed in a proportionate and person-centred manner.
Working collaboratively with adults, carers, families, advocacy services, and partner agencies to develop safeguarding plans and protective interventions.
Undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments and facilitating Best Interest decision-making in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 20

Responding to concerns relating to abuse, neglect, exploitation, self-neglect, domestic abuse, and organisational safeguarding issues.
Applying the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal, ensuring individuals remain at the centre of safeguarding processes and outcomes.
Working closely with health professionals, police, housing services, care providers, legal services, and community organisations to coordinate effective safeguarding responses.
Participating in safeguarding meetings, strategy discussions, case conferences, and multi-agency risk management processes.
Preparing high-quality assessments, safeguarding reports, risk assessments, and professional documentation.
Maintaining accurate, timely, and legally compliant case records in accordance with statutory requirements and organisational procedures.
Promoting independence, wellbeing, and strengths-based practice whilst managing complex safeguarding risks.
Qualifications and Experience
Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent recognised Social Work qualification.
Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
Experience: Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care.
Safeguarding Experience: Experience undertaking Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries and managing complex adult safeguarding concerns.
Legislation Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Human Rights legislation, Adult Safeguarding procedures, and associated statutory guidance.
Assessment Skills: Proven ability to undertake complex assessments, risk assessments, support planning, and safeguarding interventions.
Mental Capacity Experience: Experience completing Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decision-making processes.
Multi-Agency Working: Strong experience working collaboratively with health professionals, police, providers, families, carers, and partner agencies.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication, report-writing, analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Professional Practice: Commitment to strengths-based, person-centred practice and continuous professional development.
Organisational Skills: Ability to manage a complex caseload, prioritise competing demands, and work effectively within a busy safeguarding service.
