This role sits within Group Customer & Communications; a critical area focused
on delivering best-in-class financial promotions and advertising for our
customers. You’ll join our central Financial Promotions team, helping to make
sure promotional activity across Nationwide is engaging, customer-focused and
meets regulatory requirements.
As a financial promotions subject matter expert, you’ll provide clear, pragmatic
and solutions-based regulatory advice to colleagues across the organisation.
You’ll use your detailed knowledge of financial promotions requirements to
review and provide guidance on advertising and promotions, helping to ensure
they are engaging, enable customers to make informed decisions and meet
regulatory standards. Working closely with our marketing, digital, advertising,
product, risk and legal teams, you’ll provide expert advice, offer constructive
challenge and help drive consistently high standards across all promotional
activity.
The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding
relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues
together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to
home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and
to feel connected.
For this role, you'll be based at your nearest regional office or hub. We value
time spent together to connect with colleagues for collaboration so there will
be a regular requirement to attend our Swindon or Bournemouth site approximately
once per month. If you are based at an office location, you'll be expected to
meet our hybrid working requirement of at least two days a week, or 40% of your
working time if part-time, in the office. If your application is successful,
your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert
earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll be doing
Your day will be varied, working across advertising campaigns and product
propositions covering Nationwide’s products and services. You’ll review and
approve financial promotions across a range of channels, providing clear written
and verbal advice and adapting your approach to engage and influence
stakeholders at all levels. You’ll take ownership of complex or higher-risk
work, balancing regulatory requirements with commercial and customer needs to
provide proportionate challenge and practical, solutions-focused advice.
You’ll be part of a small, dedicated team of subject matter experts, working
closely with our Risk colleagues. You’ll deliver training to build capability in
financial promotions requirements, lead and support horizon scanning for
regulatory developments, and help the organisation respond effectively to
change. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by strengthening
guidance, processes and approval standards across the team.
About you
As a minimum you’ll have:
• Proven experience of reviewing or approving financial promotions and advising
stakeholders on financial promotions compliance, conduct risk and regulatory
requirements
• Detailed working knowledge of the FCA Handbook, particularly the financial
promotions rules, and a good working knowledge of other applicable
requirements, including the CAP and BCAP Codes and Consumer Duty
• A strong understanding of current and emerging financial promotions
regulatory developments.
• Experience of influencing and advising stakeholders on regulatory and
compliance requirements within a financial services environment
• Experience of providing constructive challenge and escalating regulatory,
compliance or conduct-related concerns when appropriate
• Experience of managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality
outcomes in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we
work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to

feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs,
so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
• Say it straight
• We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think –
we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives
to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
• Push for better
• We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status
quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal
development
• Get it done
• We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are
