About the role
We have multiple vacancies available for Waste and Cleansing Drivers within our
Street Cleansing Service. Working on a dedicated 12:00pm to 8:00pm shift
pattern, you will operate specialist jet washing vehicles and equipment across
Nottingham to deliver deep cleansing services and remove graffiti from highways,
footpaths, public spaces and other Council assets.
This is a frontline operational role where you will help improve the appearance
of neighbourhoods, city centre locations and public spaces. You will be
responsible for driving and maintaining vehicles, carrying out daily vehicle
safety checks, operating specialist cleansing equipment safely, recording
completed work electronically and delivering high-quality environmental services
across the city. You will work both independently and as part of a team,
ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
This role would suit individuals who take pride in improving the appearance of
Nottingham's streets and public spaces and who enjoy working in a hands-on
environment where no two days are the same.
About You
The
ideal candidate will have:
• A full UK driving licence, enabling you to drive vehicles up to and including
3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight (C1 entitlement desirable).
• Experience of driving light commercial vehicles and working in an operational
or environmental service environment, with a commitment to delivering high
standards of service to residents and visitors.
• Knowledge of safe working practices, vehicle inspections, manual handling and
Health & Safety requirements, together with a willingness to undertake
training in the operation of specialist cleansing equipment and cleaning
products.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative and
good judgement to deliver services effectively with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to
interact professionally with members of the public and respond calmly in
challenging situations.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to
complete vehicle checks, maintain records and use handheld technology and
Council systems.
• A positive, flexible approach to work, including a willingness to work
outdoors in all weather conditions, undertake physically demanding duties and
support wider operational services when required.
• A commitment to Nottingham City Council's values, Equality, Diversity and
Inclusion principles, and the delivery of excellent services for local
communities.
