Purpose of the role:
Portfolio performance monitoring: Monitor portfolio performance, identifying
opportunities to improve risk and support volume growth ensuring responsible
lending within credit risk appetite.
Deliver measurable impact: Use data analytics to drive and implement tactical
changes to support overall portfolio performance, reduce loss rates, strengthen
affordability and customer outcomes.
Partner with the business: Work closely with Credit Risk Strategy, Commercial,
Compliance, Model Risk, IT, Finance and Customer Experience to deliver changes
safely into production.
Key responsibilities:
• Portfolio Performance: Lead design of robust portfolio performance metrics
across key credit risk metrics including delinquency and default rates to
identify emerging trends and potential risks.
• Risk Appetite: Monitor portfolio performance against approved risk appetite
thresholds and escalate action where risk appetite is breached, through
internal governance frameworks and in line with regulatory expectations. ·
• Analytics Reporting: Lead design, development and optimisation of portfolio
performance reports to governance committees.
• Early Risk Identification: Lead and influence ad-hoc deeper dive root cause
analysis where credit deterioration and portfolio shifts are identified.
• Tactical change: Drive end-to-end delivery of tactical actions to mitigate
immediate portfolio risks and opportunities, partnering with Risk Strategy,
IT and Customer Experience to ensure safe and traceable deployments.
• People Management: Manages and supports a team of analysts, developing
analytical capability within the team through coaching, mentoring and
structured support. Ensures workload is effectively prioritised and fosters
continuous improvement in analytical practices.
Experience required:
• Degree in Maths, Data Science, Statistics, Economics or similar.
* 5+ years’ experience in credit risk/financial services strategy with strong
experience in risk analytics including approval rates, roll rates, default
rates, expected loss and profitability.
• Strong understanding of FCA regulatory landscape and regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL or other programming languages.
• Experience working with credit bureau data and large multi-source data.
• Strong understanding of strategy governance and risk strategy management
expectations.
• Ability to communicate technical insights to non-technical audiences
effectively. · Detail-oriented and process-driven with a focus on continuous
improvement.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Experience using Snowflake and data visualisation tools preferred.
• Experience in managing and developing analytical teams.

quality, code accuracy and clear documentation.

Translates analytical outputs into actionable, responsible lending
recommendations to drive measurable business impact.
