APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.    Overview of the role Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for more than just project delivery?   Do you want the freedom to lead major commissions, build trusted client relationships, influence strategic decisions and accelerate your journey towards Associate level?   We're looking for an ambitious and commercially-minded Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Cost Management team across the Western Region. This is an opportunity to take ownership of high-profile projects, work directly with major public and private sector clients and play a key role in shaping the future growth of our business. You'll be trusted to lead from the front, manage your own portfolio of work and develop into a recognised commercial leader within the organisation.   This role offers a genuine platform for career progression and professional growth. You'll have the opportunity to: • Lead significant projects and programmes from inception through to completion. • Develop long-term relationships with key clients and become their trusted advisor. • Work across major government, infrastructure and regeneration programmes. • Influence commercial strategy and project outcomes. • Mentor and develop future talent within the business. • Contribute to business growth, winning work and expanding key client accounts. • Progress towards Associate level through increased responsibility, client leadership and business development opportunities.   As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects across a range of sectors, delivering high-quality cost management services while acting as a key point of contact for clients and project teams. You'll be part of a collaborative and ambitious regional team with opportunities to work across our Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff offices.   Key Responsibilities   Lead Project Delivery • Take full commercial ownership of projects and programmes from early-stage business case through to final account. • Deliver cost planning, estimating, procurement, change management and commercial assurance services. • Manage project budgets, cashflows, risk allowances and reporting requirements. • Provide strategic commercial advice that helps clients make informed decisions and achieve successful outcomes. Manage Client Relationships • Build strong and lasting relationships with clients across government, education, housing and regeneration sectors. • Act as a trusted commercial advisor, providing confidence and clarity throughout project delivery. • Identify opportunities to add value and grow client accounts. Drive Commercial Excellence • Lead the delivery of high-quality cost management services across multiple commissions. • Ensure consistency, accuracy and quality in project outputs. • Share knowledge and best practice across project teams. Develop Future Talent • Coach, mentor and support junior and intermediate quantity surveyors. • Help develop the next generation of commercial professionals. • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture. Support Business Growth • Play an active role in bid submissions, proposals and framework opportunities. • Identify new opportunities within existing accounts and sectors. • Represent the business at client meetings, networking events and industry forums. Typical Clients and Programmes You'll have the opportunity to work on some of the UK's most significant public sector programmes, including: • Department for Education (DfE) • Homes England • Local Authorities • Regeneration and Infrastructure Programmes • Wider Government and Public Sector Frameworks   About You We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with ambition, commercial awareness and leadership potential.   Essential • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline. • Chartered (MRICS or equivalent). • Proven experience delivering cost management services on major construction, infrastructure or public sector projects. • Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously. • Experience leading teams and mentoring others.   Desirable • Experience working with public sector clients such as DfE, Homes England. • Consultancy experience. • Experience supporting bids, frameworks and business development activities. • Knowledge of programme-level cost management and commercial assurance.   Your Next Step If you're a Senior Quantity Surveyor who wants greater responsibility, greater influence and a clear route into leadership, we'd love to hear from you.
