Built isn’t waiting for the future. We’re building it.
This is for a Design Manager who likes being at the point where design intent
becomes construction reality. You will help shape solutions early, unlock
decisions across consultants and stakeholders, and give delivery teams the
clarity they need to build safely, efficiently and well. At Built, your
technical judgement will be visible in the quality, value and buildability of
the projects we deliver.
The Opportunity
Design is a critical link between our clients, consultants and project teams. In
this role, you will guide the flow of design information, challenge issues early
and keep documentation moving in step with programme, procurement and
construction needs. You will be the person who connects intent with delivery,
making sure the right inputs, approvals and decisions are in place at the right
time.
• Translate client requirements, consultant inputs and project constraints into
a clear design pathway the team can deliver against.
• Lead design coordination across architects, engineers, services consultants,
authorities, subcontractors and specialist advisors.
• Keep design milestones aligned with procurement and construction activity, so
teams have the information they need before decisions become critical.
• Review documentation through a time, cost, quality, compliance and
buildability lens, identifying risks, gaps and opportunities early.
• Support design reviews, value management and Safety in Design processes that
improve outcomes for clients, users and delivery teams.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a Design Manager with the confidence to ask the right
questions, the discipline to keep design moving, and the judgement to balance
technical, commercial and programme priorities. You do not need to have all the
answers on day one, but you will bring curiosity, structure and the ability to
bring specialists together around a practical way forward.
• Proven experience coordinating design deliverables on construction projects,
ideally in a design and construct or main contractor environment.
• Working knowledge of construction staging, procurement, approvals and design
documentation workflows.
• Ability to engage confidently with clients, consultants, authorities,
subcontractors and internal delivery teams.
• Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability
to turn complexity into clear actions.
• Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering
or a related field.
