Domestic Assistant
Location: Thornton House, Whimbrel Drive, Thornton Cleveleys, FY5 2LR
Hours: 17.5 hours per week 14:00-19:00
Hourly Rate: £13.45 per hour
About the Role
We are looking for a dependable and detail‑focused Domestic Assistant to join
our team at Thornton House. You will play an important role in maintaining a
clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The
ideal candidate will take pride in their work and be committed to delivering
high standards of cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform general cleaning duties across the building, including communal
areas, offices, bathrooms, corridors, and resident areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and polish surfaces as required.
• Clean bathrooms and toilets to a high standard, ensuring hygiene and safety
at all times.
• Replace consumables such as soap, towels, and toilet paper.
• Empty bins and manage waste disposal in line with organisational procedures.
• Follow designated cleaning schedules and maintain appropriate cleaning
records.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with training.
• Report maintenance issues or concerns promptly to the management team.
• Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and
residents.

Essential:
• Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.
• Awareness of health and safety and infection‑control practices.
Desirable:
• Previous cleaning or domestic experience.
• Experience in a care, or healthcare environment.
Working Hours
Total weekly hours: 17.5
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
Week 2: Thursday, Friday

Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be
reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary
councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 20
28.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire
County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will
transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the
implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
