What is the AI Skills Centre of Excellence? The AI Skills Centre of Excellence is a new university-wide initiative that aims to help staff, students and the wider community develop the skills, confidence and understanding needed to use AI effectively and responsibly. Working with our strategic partner Microsoft, we'll provide training, workshops, resources and practical opportunities to explore how AI can support: · Learning and teaching · Research and innovation · Personal productivity · Administrative and operational efficiency As an AI Skills Ambassador, you'll play a key role in helping bring this vision to life. What does an AI Skills Ambassador do? As a Student Digital Leader specialising in AI, you'll work alongside the University's digital teams and Microsoft experts to champion AI adoption across our community. You could be involved in: · Supporting and co-facilitating AI workshops and events · Demonstrating practical AI use cases to staff and students · Creating guides, resources and learning materials · Helping staff and students build confidence using AI tools · Gathering feedback to improve services and training · Promoting responsible and ethical use of AI · Representing the student perspective in AI initiatives One week you might be helping run an AI skills workshop for professional services staff, while the next you could be demonstrating the capabilities of AI to a large group of people. The below role descriptor seeks to capture the main requirements of the role consistently, providing a summary of the key duties of the flexible role to help in setting expectations for applicants, flexible workers and line managers. Role Responsibilities Student Digital Leader Grade 3 Under instruction and following appropriate training: Understand and accurately communicate straightforward information. Occasionally communicate information which requires explaining or adapting to ensure it is understood verbally or in writing. This information may be delivered via digital (including social media & digital signage), print or other medium Work as part of a team to increase use and engagement with digital technologies at the University Work as part of a team to support staff, students, and visitors with the use of digital technologies at the University Carry out user acceptance testing of digital systems As part of a team, generate ideas and design campaigns for social media which will engage the student population To provide valuable student input into systems design As part of a team, contribute to running small group face to face digital training sessions A positive attitude to problem solving, learning to overcome and work around inevitable problems in the rapidly growing digital space To act as a responsible, positive role model to external visitors, stakeholders, prospective students and young people To undertake any necessary training to help facilitate events/activities Undertake training including Health and Safety, apply agreed procedures and report any concerns Any other reasonable duties that may be allocated from time to time commensurate with the grading of the post To apply for the role please complete the online application process, uploading a copy of your CV and covering letter containing answers the following questions: What interests you in the role of Student Digital Leader • AI Skills Ambassador?
