Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Vice President in the
Technology & Media sector. The role will be a combination of supporting and
co-covering the sector with the senior analyst as well as initiating on own
coverage. This is a critically important role for our business: it influences
billions of dollars in client funds and has the potential to generate
significant investment returns, driven by our fundamental and long-term focused
investment process.
The role centers on conducting long-term fundamental research to produce
differentiated investment insights and communicating those insights effectively
to our Portfolio Manager partners. Success in this role is measured by your
ability to generate alpha on a long-term basis, forecast effectively, and
communicate with clarity and conviction. You must be willing to take risk. The
ideal candidate pairs the discipline to conduct detailed, insightful research
with a genuine passion for investing.
JP Morgan believes that in-house research is our competitive edge. As a result,
the role is well supported by a collegial, global network of analysts across the
same sector, alongside dedicated technology, data, and junior support. Our
investment process balances a structured research framework with a high degree
of autonomy in how analysts approach their work. Our focus is fundamental and
long-term, while remaining attuned to near-term developments that impact our
forecasts.
Job responsibilities:
• Partner with and support a senior Technology & Media analyst, contributing to
high-quality, pragmatic, and timely insights across the sector, with a
defined near-term progression toward co-coverage and independent coverage of
your own names.
• Produce differentiated, long-term fundamental research that translates into
actionable investment ideas.
• Convert research into investment ideas—directly taking positions within our
analyst fund and indirectly influencing billions of dollars of client
assets.
• Generate alpha through rigorous analysis, effective forecasting, and
disciplined risk-taking.
• Communicate clearly, succinctly, and in a timely manner with our investment
partners.
• Promote and strengthen the highly collaborative and welcoming internal
culture of JPMorganChase.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, insightful research.
• A passion for investing and a willingness to take risk.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey
ideas succinctly and persuasively.
• At least five years' experience supporting coverage or directly covering
stocks on either the sell-side or buy-side. Knowledge of the Technology &
Media sector will be viewed positively, but is not essential.
• A team player who will help preserve and expand our positive internal
culture.
