The Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day and strategic operations of
the Engineering Apprenticeship Training Academy at LCY2. Working under the
direction of the Senior Apprenticeship Program Manager, the post holder will
lead the delivery of high-quality engineering apprenticeship training, ensuring
full compliance with regulatory, awarding body, and Amazon standards.
This role is ideally suited to a curriculum manager from a Further Education
(FE) college or commercial apprenticeship provider, with extensive knowledge of
engineering apprenticeship delivery. The successful candidate should hold, or be
working towards, a recognised Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) or Internal
Verifier (IV) qualification.

safeguarding requirements before commencing in the role.
Safeguarding Responsibilities of the Role
The Apprentice Academy Centre Manager will be expected to:
-Act as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns within the Academy centre
- Uphold and promote the Amazon Apprenticeships Safeguarding and Prevent Policy
at all times
- Ensure all learners are supported in a safe environment free from harm, abuse,
or neglect
- Report any safeguarding or Prevent concerns in line with Academy procedures
- Complete safeguarding and Prevent training upon appointment and at regular
intervals thereafter
- Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in maintaining accurate
safeguarding records

Key job responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership: Provide overall management of the Amazon Apprentice
Academy at LCY2, developing and implementing the training centre strategy in
alignment with organisational goals. Manage the centre budget, oversee resource
allocation, and build productive relationships with key stakeholders.
2. Operational Management: Oversee all training centre operations, managing
equipment, facilities, and consumables. Ensure full compliance with Health &
Safety and occupational health requirements, coordinate with RME teams, and
fulfil awarding organisation centre coordinator responsibilities. Occasional
teaching/training delivery to cover staff absence as required.
3. People Management: Lead, manage, and develop the centre delivery team. Liaise
with apprentice managers on timekeeping, attendance, and progress, and
coordinate with external training providers as required.
4. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Maintain and continuously improve training
standards. Conduct quality assessments including teaching observations and
standardisation of assessment decisions. Ensure compliance with Ofsted and
awarding body standards, contribute to the QUIP and SAR, and monitor and drive
improvement in apprentice progress and achievement. Ensure adherence to all
Academy and Amazon policies.
5. Safeguarding: Act as a trained Safeguarding Officer, implementing and
upholding safeguarding policies. Manage concerns and incidents appropriately,
maintain accurate confidential records, and liaise with relevant authorities
when necessary.
About the team
The UK Operations Apprenticeship team manages both internal and external
apprentices across the UK and Ireland, and contributes to up-skilling programmes
for internal stakeholders. A key feature of the team is the Amazon Apprentice
Academy, which is responsible for delivering Level 2 apprenticeships nationwide
and managing two engineering training centres located in Bolton and Tilbury. The
team sits within the wider EU Apprenticeships team, as part of the L&D function
within Amazon Operations. Basic Qualifications: - Knowledge of Excel (Pivot
Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to
determine improvements
- Experience in program or project management
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or
standardization
- Experience defining and executing program requirements Preferred
Qualifications: - Experience in driving end to end delivery, and communicating
results to senior leadership
- Experience leading process improvements
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at
varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
