ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you a detail-oriented Health & Safety advocate with a background in
Transport, Facilities, or Safety Operations?
We are seeking a proactive Transport Safety Technician to play a central role in
maintaining a gold-standard safety culture across our transport operations. In
this role, you will be on the front lines of risk prevention—conducting audits,
inspecting site equipment, overseeing vehicle collision and personal accident
investigations, and ensuring total compliance with H&S and environmental
regulations.
Working directly alongside operational management teams, you will analyse
incident data, lead continuous safety training, and manage critical compliance
documentation (including Employee Liability Claims).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
INSPECTIONS, AUDITS & EQUIPMENT SAFETY
• Safety Audits: Conduct regular inspections of transport work areas,
processes, and equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance
with site H&S standards.
• PUWER & PPE: Support PUWER assessments for operational machinery, implement
control measures, and ensure proper use, testing, and availability of
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
INCIDENT INVESTIGATION & DATA ANALYSIS
• Collision & Incident Reviews: Lead and support investigations into vehicle
collisions, workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
• Scoring & Reporting: Score accident reports, analyse trends using data-driven
insights, present root-cause analysis to management, and track corrective
actions.
COMPLIANCE & DOCUMENTATION MANAGEMENT
• Audit Readiness: Maintain, periodically review, and archive safety
documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure total audit preparedness.
• Systems & Claims: Coordinate site safety management systems (MAS & TMSS) and
manage all Employee Liability Claims documentation in line with company
procedures.
TRAINING, AWARENESS & EMERGENCY PLANNING
• Safety Culture: Assist in creating and delivering safety workshops,
toolboxes, and presentations to promote best practices across the network.
• Emergency Response: Help draft and maintain site emergency response plans,
coordinate drills, and ensure shift teams are fully trained on emergency
protocols.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• Relevant Experience: Background in a H&S, Transport, Logistics, or Facilities
administrative or technical role.
• Technical & System Skills: PC literate with strong working knowledge
of Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides) to produce reports and analyze safety
metrics.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the
confidence to advise site managers and interact with Senior Leadership.
• Driving Requirement: Holds a Full UK Driving License and a flexible mindset
to travel across the UK Transport network when required.
• Core Competencies: Meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving
skills, and a collaborative approach.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
• NEBOSH General or National Certificate (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of defensive driving frameworks or Smith System methodologies.
• Prior experience with NEXT safety management systems (MAS / TMSS).
• Previous team or people management experience.
WHAT WE OFFER
• Full training on proprietary Health & Safety systems.
• Clear career progression routes within H&S and Logistics.
• Generous company pension, staff discounts, and holiday allowance.
