Location: This role is located in Edinburgh or Birmingham , with time spent
working in the office and at home (hybrid).

Salary and benefits: Up to £35,000 plus an indicative bonus range of 8-16%

The role
This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring tax professional to join our
Direct Tax team, where you'll gain exposure to a broad range of tax compliance
and reporting activities and develop sought-after
technical skills.
You'll support the on-going delivery of the non-life tax compliance and tax
reporting process for the companies within our group as well as group-wide
compliance requirements such as Group Relief, CIR, CBCR and OECD Pillar Two by:
• Preparation and submission of UK corporate tax computations.
• Preparation of tax disclosures for inclusion in statutory accounts and
providing a supporting role on quarterly reporting processes and tax
journals.
• Assisting with the management of overseas tax return filings and tax payments
alongside outsourced providers.
• Working closely with the managers and senior managers in the team as well as
stakeholders across the business.
• Balancing competing priorities on different pieces of work in challenging
timescales.
• Ensuring a continually high quality of output and a demonstrable aptitude for
process development and improvement.
• Communicating with others to develop their understanding and knowledge of tax
and accounting procedures.
What are we looking for?
• A genuine interest in tax, accounting and financial services, with the
ambition to build a career in tax and pursue a professional qualification
such as CA, ACA or CTA.
• A curious and analytical mindset, with the ability to investigate issues,
identify root causes and turn data into meaningful insights.
• Strong attention to detail with the experience of working with large
datasets, coupled with solid Excel skills and an interest in automation,
technology and process improvement.
• An effective communicator and team player who enjoys collaborating with
others, building relationships and managing competing priorities in a
fast-paced environment.
Desirable
• A proactive and adaptable learner who is eager to understand how a complex
business operates. Previous experience through an internship, placement year
or role in tax, finance, audit or professional services
