Availability
• As a driver there is no set schedule pattern.
• Shifts will be 3-5 days out of 7.
• Miniumum 1 weekend day required.
• Early shifts start from 06:00am / Late shifts finish at 23:00pm.
* 4 weeks schedule in advance.
What you’ll be doing
• Being the face of Sainsbury’s at every doorstep you deliver to, making them
feel valued through a thoughtful, friendly and helpful delivery service
• Driving a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries to our customers on
time and in great condition
• Completing checks to make sure the van is roadworthy, clean and organised,
and that customers’ shopping is secure before setting off
• Following planned routes and driving safely in a variety of locations,
traffic, weather and road conditions
• Moving containers weighing up to 15kg and delivering shopping to a variety of
properties, which may include steps, lifts or longer walks from the van
• Communicating brilliant with customers, including keeping them informed of
any delays, dealing with customer queries and any changes to their order
• When not out making deliveries, you may need to help across the store as
needed
What it takes to be part of our team
• Friendly and welcoming, with a genuine enthusiasm for helping customers and
takes pride in providing the best doorstep experience
• Comfortable driving a larger vehicle safely in different locations, from busy
residential streets and city centres to narrow country lanes
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical and high-energy environment,
including repeatedly moving shopping containers weighing up to 15kg
• Able to use initiative, solve problems and make safe decisions while out on
the road
• Enjoys both working independently while also thriving as part of the wider
store team
• Flexibility and willingness to work across the store and take on new
challenges
• Open to learning, developing and trying new things to improve our service
• Confident learning to use route and delivery technology

Important checks before you apply
• You must be over 18 years old and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for
at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on it
• You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview
and, if you’re successful, there’ll be a driving assessment when you join us
• You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK
• Sainsbury’s has created a safer driving environment by installing in-cab AI
cameras that monitor driver behaviour and help ensure compliance with road
laws and defensive‑driving standards to protect drivers and other road users
