• Ensure strong SDLC discipline including requirements clarity, design quality,
peer review, automated testing, release governance, production validation,
and support readiness.
• Champion engineering best practices in full stack architecture, reusable
design patterns, API strategy, observability, and secure coding.
• Strengthen platform stability and operational resilience by reducing manual
touchpoints, improving exception handling, and enhancing recovery and support
processes.
• Support release planning, prioritization, and execution for strategic
enhancements and remediation activities.
• Translate technical initiatives into business value through improved
controls, reduced operational risk, enhanced audit readiness, and better user
experience.
• Foster a culture aligned to BNY principles: Be Client Obsessed, Spark
Progress, Own It, Stay Curious, and Thrive Together.
• Contribute to talent development, succession planning, and high-performance
team culture within the engineering organization.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
• Significant experience leading full stack software engineering teams in
enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on or leadership experience across frontend, backend, APIs,
middleware, databases, and cloud/infrastructure-integrated application
architecture.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale platform enhancements, modernization, or
transformation programs.
• Experience managing engineering delivery in regulated, control-focused, or
operationally critical environments.
• Strong understanding of software engineering practices including system
design, CI/CD, automated testing, code review, and production support.
• Demonstrated ability to work across business, operations, and technology
teams in a matrixed organization.
• Experience using or promoting AI-enabled software engineering practices such
as intelligent coding assistance, AI-supported testing, workflow automation,
knowledge retrieval, or operational analytics.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
and articulate engineering outcomes in business terms.
• Experience in people leadership, coaching, and performance management.
•
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in financial services, asset servicing, trust, custody, or
adjacent platform-based enterprise domains.
• Exposure to domain modernization involving workflow controls, exception
reduction, auditability, and service resilience.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture, microservices, API-first
design, and modern UI engineering practices.
• Experience with data-driven engineering management, platform metrics, and
operational insight tooling.
• Understanding of AI governance, responsible AI usage, and practical
enterprise adoption patterns.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The
ideal candidate is a strong engineering leader who can balance delivery,
architecture, people leadership, and platform control needs. They bring an
AI-first mindset not as a buzzword, but as a practical operating model—using AI
to improve how teams build, test, support, and evolve software. They are
comfortable leading in a complex enterprise setting and can connect engineering
execution to operational resilience, modernization, and business impact.
