The Role and the Department
Josephine Butler College is seeking to appoint and welcome a new College Administration Co-ordinator to our friendly, vibrant, and inclusive community. Opened in 2006, we are named after the 19th-century social reformer, Josephine Butler, who had a profound influence on society's view of women's health and education. Her legacy of advocacy, commitment to social justice and kindness serves as an inspiration to our students, staff, and broader College community. Josephine Butler College is led by Professor Gillian Hampden-Thompson.
Working as a part of a close-knit team, you will be involved in a wide range of activities aimed at furthering the College and University strategy, especially concerning the effective administration of Josephine Butler College. The College Administration Co-ordinator will provide an efficient and effective administrative support service to the college management team, will be a primary contact for the college student body, and will support the work of the Junior, Middle, and Senior common rooms
In the academic year of 2026-27, the College will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. As such, the role will allow the successful candidate to be involved in supporting various events and activities relating to the anniversary celebrations.
This is an in‑person role based at Josephine Butler College. The expected start date is 2nd November 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The role may require occasional evening and weekend work.

Qualifications/Experience
1. Five GCSE’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
2. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders.
3. Strong proficiency in digital tools and administrative systems, including digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications, and business systems to optimise operational efficiency.
4. Proven ability to foster an inclusive and collaborative work environment that aligns with the University’s commitment to equity, diversity, and student empowerment while promoting a sense of belonging.
5. Proven ability to anticipate and resolve administrative challenges through effective problem-solving, planning, and decision-making that aligns with institutional priorities.
6. Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to exchange best practices and contribute to a collaborative workplace culture.
Desirable Criteria
7. Commitment to continuous professional development with evidence of proactive skill enhancement relevant to administrative excellence.
8. Experience managing complex workloads with adaptability, balancing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and service quality.
9. Strong data management and analytical skills, including proficiency in handling student records, financial processes, or reporting mechanisms to support informed decision-making.
