Salary: £29,326 - £38,779 per year
South Lanarkshire Council are looking for a Finance Assistant to join the
Strategy Team, with a specific focus on supporting the Council’s capital
programme and investment priorities. This post will support the Council’s
strategic approach to capital investment, providing financial support across the
capital programme and helping to ensure that resources are planned, monitored
and managed effectively.
You will contribute to the development, monitoring and reporting of the
Council’s capital programme, working with finance colleagues and services across
the Council. This will include supporting the preparation of capital budgets and
forecasts, monitoring expenditure and funding, assisting with financial
reporting, and contributing to the preparation of year-end accounts.
A key part of the role will be providing high-quality financial information,
advice and support to services to assist with capital planning and investment
decisions. You will work with colleagues to identify financial issues,
investigate variances and ensure that capital expenditure and associated funding
are accurately recorded, monitored and reported.
The successful candidate should have experience of working within a financial
environment, ideally within the public sector, and be able to demonstrate
appropriate technical knowledge and an understanding of the finance function
within a large organisation. You should have strong analytical and
organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with financial
information and communicate clearly with finance and non-finance colleagues.

An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the
UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked
