Role Description: As a Technical Documentation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality technical documentation that meets customer requirements, drawing on information from design drawings, LSAR outputs, and OEM manuals and data. Working closely with engineering teams, subcontractors, and Supply Chain colleagues, you will coordinate the timely provision of technical inputs to ensure compliant project delivery. You will manage documentation throughout its lifecycle within a Common Source Database (CSDB) environment, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and configuration control through to the creation and delivery of Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs) Core duties: Accountable for the quality and product safety of their own scheduled work Production of Technical Data and Documentation are complete, coherent and consistent Awareness of Technical Documentation Management Plans Awareness of key stakeholders and contract objectives and deliverables. Liaison with other engineering and support functions as required across the business Understanding of current Military and commercial standards and techniques and their application Application of the Technical Publications Business Management procedures Comply with statutory requirements, regulations and company procedures, including SHE and managing ITAR Consistently apply Engineering Governance Accountable for configuration control on deliverables, including the liaison with Engineering team Support customer requests, answering or seeking support to answer as necessary Essential Skills: You'll hold an HNC qualification (or equivalent experience) with demonstrable knowledge and experience in the production of technical documentation You'll have working level knowledge of DEF STAN 00-600, JSP 886, S1000D and JSP 822 You'll have a good understanding of technical documentation within the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) discipline and its through-life support requirements The Technical Documentation & Information (Digital) Team: The Technical Documentation & Information (Digital) Team comprises 19 colleagues across Portsmouth Naval Base and Filton, supporting the delivery of technical publications for Royal Navy platforms, including Type 45 and Type 26 programmes. The team creates operation, maintenance, diagnostic and repair documentation, with opportunities to develop specialist skills, learn from experienced professionals, and even visit Royal Navy vessels to gain first-hand insight into the equipment and environments being supported Why BAE Systems?
