We now have a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Manager to
join our Business Banking Products leadership team. Reporting directly to the
Director of Business Banking Products, this role sits at the centre of one of
Nationwide's most exciting growth agendas, helping to shape and coordinate the
future direction of our Business Banking proposition.
Operating across a broad product portfolio, you’ll provide strategic support to
the Director whilst bringing together product planning, portfolio governance,
performance reporting, market insight and business management activity across
multiple product disciplines. Working closely with Product Heads and senior
stakeholders across the organisation, you'll help ensure the Business Banking
Products function remains aligned, informed and focused on delivering
exceptional outcomes for customers and colleagues.
You'll be the key point of coordination across the Product leadership team,
helping to connect strategy, execution and governance while providing the
insight, structure and oversight needed to support effective decision making.
This is a role for someone who enjoys operating at pace, managing complexity and
influencing across a wide range of stakeholders without direct ownership of
every outcome.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'll be doing
Strategic Portfolio Planning & Coordination
• Coordinate portfolio planning, prioritisation and strategic delivery
activity across the Business Banking Products function
• Support the development of portfolio plans, investment priorities and
business objectives aligned to the wider Business Banking strategy
• Identify dependencies, risks and opportunities across product areas,
ensuring leadership teams have clear visibility of priorities and progress
• Help drive alignment and consistency across multiple product workstreams
and initiatives
Executive Support to the Director of Business Banking Products
• Act as a trusted partner to the Director, providing high-quality briefings,
analysis, recommendations and executive support
• Support leadership forums, governance committees and strategic planning
activities
• Coordinate key leadership activities, ensuring actions and priorities are
effectively managed and communicated
• Provide insight and challenge to support informed and timely
decision-making
Governance, Risk & Regulatory Coordination
• Act as the central point for governance activity across the Business
Banking Products portfolio
• Coordinate governance forums, reporting requirements and executive
submissions across Product teams
• Support Product Heads in ensuring appropriate regulatory, risk and conduct
considerations are reflected within product activities
• Maintain clear oversight of portfolio risks, issues, actions and regulatory
commitments
Market, Competitor & Customer Insight
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive view of market trends, competitor
activity and evolving customer needs
• Bring together insight from internal and external sources to inform
portfolio discussions and strategic decision-making
• Support the identification of future opportunities, emerging risks and
proposition enhancements
• Produce regular market and industry updates for the Director and Product
leadership team
Commercial & Performance Management
• Coordinate performance reporting across the product portfolio, bringing
together commercial, customer and operational measures
• Develop management information and executive dashboards that provide
meaningful insight into performance and outcomes
• Support portfolio reviews by identifying trends, opportunities and areas
requiring intervention
• Help track delivery against strategic objectives, business plans and key
performance indicators
Stakeholder Management & Leadership Collaboration
• Build strong relationships across Product, Commercial, Relationship
Banking, Distribution, Risk, Technology, Operations, Finance and Customer teams
• Facilitate effective collaboration across product areas and support the
delivery of cross-functional initiatives
• Act as a connector across the Business Banking leadership community,
ensuring priorities and messaging remain aligned
• Support senior stakeholder engagement through well-structured communication
and governance
Change & Transformation Support
• Coordinate strategic initiatives, transformation programmes and product
delivery activity across the portfolio
• Monitor progress against agreed milestones, ensuring key dependencies and
risks are understood and addressed
• Support the embedding of new capabilities, operating models and ways of
working
• Help ensure change activity remains aligned to strategic objectives and
customer outcomes
Leadership & Team Contribution
• Play an active role within the Business Banking Products leadership team
• Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and
continuous improvement
• Provide leadership and coaching to colleagues where applicable
• Contribute to wider Business Banking objectives and strategic priorities
QUALIFICATIONS
About you
You'll bring significant experience from a Business Banking, Product Management,
Strategy or Business Management environment, with a strong understanding of
product development and product lifecycle management, with the ability to
support the evolution of customer propositions and drive alignment between
strategic objectives, commercial priorities and delivery outcomes.
Comfortable operating in a complex, matrix environment, you'll have experience
leading portfolio, programme and project management activity across multiple
stakeholders, bringing clarity, pace and focus to competing priorities. You'll
be adept at business analysis and requirements gathering, using sound judgement
and insight to identify opportunities, solve problems and inform decision making
at both a strategic and operational level.
You'll combine strong financial and commercial awareness with highly developed
analytical skills, using data analysis, performance metrics and management
information reporting to provide meaningful insight, challenge thinking and
support effective prioritisation. You'll be comfortable interpreting complex
information and translating it into clear recommendations for senior audiences,
helping to shape discussions and influence outcomes.
You'll also bring a strong understanding of regulatory and risk management
principles within a financial services environment, ensuring customer, conduct
and governance considerations are appropriately reflected in decision making.
Experience of customer journey mapping and process design will enable you to
identify opportunities to improve customer experiences, simplify processes and
enhance the effectiveness of the overall proposition.
We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture whilst maintaining a
sharp focus on delivery, governance and outcomes. You'll have experience
supporting change management and implementation activity, helping teams
successfully navigate transformation, embed new ways of working and deliver
sustainable business improvements.
More broadly, you'll be a credible, commercially minded and collaborative
professional who is comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and working
across Product, Commercial, Risk, Finance, Operations and Technology. You'll
bring intellectual curiosity, sound judgement and the confidence to provide
constructive challenge, helping ensure the Business Banking Products function
remains aligned, informed and well-positioned to deliver its strategic
ambitions.
