We are looking for a National Cleaning Manager to join our Support Office Team. Role Type: Permanent • Full Time Hours: 40 The National Cleaning Manager is responsible for setting, implementing, and continuously improving cleaning standards across all Virgin Active clubs. This role ensures every club consistently delivers exceptional levels of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation that enhance the member experience and protect the Virgin Active brand. The National Cleaning Manager will lead cleaning operations across the estate, support club leadership teams in managing and developing cleaning teams, drive innovation through new technologies and equipment, and oversee specialist services including window cleaning and deep cleaning programmes. The Role Develop and implement a national cleaning strategy that reflects Virgin Active’s premium brand standards. Establish, monitor, and continuously improve cleaning standards, procedures, and operational performance across all clubs. Conduct audits, inspections, and performance reviews to ensure compliance and drive improvements. Lead training, onboarding, coaching, and development programmes for cleaning teams and club leadership. Support recruitment, retention, and performance management of cleaning teams across the estate. Create and maintain site-specific cleaning schedules, task plans, and accountability frameworks. Manage national specialist cleaning programmes, including deep cleans, window cleaning, and preventative maintenance. Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, COSHH requirements, risk assessments, and safe systems of work. Lead anti-slip floor treatment programmes and implement measures to reduce slips, trips, and falls. Drive quality assurance initiatives, analyse trends, and deliver continuous improvement to enhance member satisfaction. Identify and implement innovative, sustainable cleaning technologies, products, and best practices. Manage stakeholder relationships, budgets, KPIs, and operational resources to deliver exceptional cleanliness, efficiency, and club presentation. Who We’re Looking For Proven experience managing cleaning operations across multiple sites. Strong understanding of cleaning methodologies, equipment, products, and industry best practices. Experience developing and delivering training programmes. Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. Excellent organisational and project management capabilities. Knowledge of COSHH and health and safety legislation. Ability to analyse performance data and drive operational improvements.
