About the Role
This post is required to work flexibly within 37 hours, to deliver a reactive
and rapid response service to cover absences and cleaning incidents across
Lancashire.
Key Accountabilities
• Provide cleaning cover for cleaning roles in Lancashire Constabulary
buildings, Care homes, and Lancashire County Council premises.
• Provide biohazard cleaning at Lancashire County Council premises and
Lancashire Constabulary premises and equipment.
• Deliver a cleaning service in line with Health and Safety regulations
ensuring adherence to the use of correct chemicals and equipment
• To use specialist cleaning equipment for surfaces that require various
cleaning methods, which include, professional grade heavy-duty floor scrubber
dryers, industrial spray extraction carpet cleaners, and high-pressure steam
or water systems to provide fast and hygienic results for commercial,
industrial, internal and outdoor environments.
• To ensure safe methods of working and taking responsibility for health and
safety of yourselves and building users when on duty.
• Provide county wide cover for cleaning in Police, Care, and corporate
establishments
• Deliver a cleaning service in line with regulations ensuring adherence to the
use of correct chemicals and equipment and undertaking training for any
specialist equipment used or surfaces that require various cleaning methods
• Work to corporate risk assessments and safe methods of working, taking
responsibility for health and safety of yourselves and premises users when on
duty and for those that have key holding duties
Whilst in the main the duties will be between normal working hours, the
specialist cleaning service is a 24 hours 7 days a week service, therefore there
is a requirement to provide an element of 'on call' / standby duties, this is
evenly shared between the team. An on-call standby allowance and any additional
working hours are paid over and above the stipulated salary. During the
interview the on-call duties will be explained in more detail.
You will be provided with a vehicle for use in connection with the duties of
this post. We may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.

Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be
reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary
councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 20
28.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire
County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will
transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the
implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
