We are supporting a well-established fintech and payments company with 20+ years of experience in online payments and a global network of banking and financial partners. The business operates across multiple markets and offers end-to-end payment solutions through its secure technology platform and eWallet.
The company has offices in the UK and Malta, with a flexible, collaborative and entrepreneurial culture.
We are looking for a Junior Lawyer to support the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer across legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
This is a hands-on role covering commercial contracts, regulatory research, compliance monitoring, risk management and corporate governance, with exposure to PSP/EMI, PSD3/PSR, MiCA/Crypto, AI, GDPR and DORA.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, NDAs, policies and other legal documentation.
Conduct legal and regulatory research and assist with legal opinions, memos and advice.
Support compliance frameworks, policies, monitoring, audits and risk assessments.
Assist with regulatory reporting and monitoring regulatory developments.
Support litigation, claims and external legal counsel where required.
Assist with corporate governance, board documentation and statutory filings.
Maintain legal and compliance registers and documentation.
Support GDPR, data protection, privacy and DORA requirements, including breaches and data subject requests.
Assist with compliance training and promoting a strong culture of ethics and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
LL.B. or equivalent and a legal warrant.
2 years' relevant post-degree experience in legal, compliance or regulatory roles, either in-house or private practice.
Strong knowledge of legal drafting, contracts, regulatory requirements and corporate governance.
Good understanding of compliance, risk management and areas such as GDPR, DORA, MiCA and AI regulation.
Excellent communication, analytical and research skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
High level of integrity, discretion and professional judgement.
Nice to Have
Experience in payments, fintech, EMI/PSP, crypto or gaming.
Exposure to audits, regulatory inspections or risk assessments.
