Interim Banking / Credit Lawyer
Major Financial Services Institution | London / Hybrid | 6-month contract
Accuflex has a strong interim opportunity for a talented and motivated Banking / Credit Lawyer to join the UK private banking and wealth legal team of a major financial services institution.
This role will support the private banking credit business on a broad range of transactional credit facility and loan lifecycle work. The loan book is principally made up of property lending and securities-backed / lombard lending, with some more specialist financing arrangements.
This would suit a lawyer with strong transactional credit experience who is able to work with light supervision and provide practical, commercially focused legal support to a busy in-house legal team.
The role
The work will include:
Supporting credit facility transactions across a private banking loan book
Reviewing, drafting and negotiating loan and security documentation
Advising on property loans, mortgage-backed lending and secured lending arrangements
Supporting securities-backed / lombard lending matters
Advising on loan lifecycle work, including amendments, variations, consents and ongoing facility management
Working with a range of borrower and security provider types, including individuals, domestic and overseas corporate structures, charities and other wealth vehicles
Supporting matters involving regulated mortgage contracts and consumer credit exemptions
Advising internal stakeholders on legal risk, documentation issues and transaction process
Assisting with policies, procedures and facility template documentation where required
Candidate requirements
Candidates should ideally have:
Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales or equivalent common law jurisdiction
Around 2+ PQE
Strong transactional banking, credit or secured lending experience
Experience with loans, mortgages, property finance or private banking credit work
Good drafting and transaction management skills
The ability to work independently with light supervision
Strong attention to detail and sensible legal judgement
A practical, responsive and commercially aware approach
Confidence working with internal stakeholders in a financial services environment
Useful experience
The following would be helpful but is not essential:
Private banking or wealth lending experience
Regulated mortgage contracts
Consumer credit exemptions
MCOB knowledge
Lombard / securities-backed lending
Lending involving individuals, trusts, charities, overseas companies or wealth structures
Previous in-house legal team experience within financial services
