SUMMARY:
Summary
We are currently seeking an Assistant Editor to join our Editorial team in the
UK. This role is fully remote in the UK. If you are local to one of our hubs
(London, Manchester, or Dublin) you will be expected to be in office minimum two
days per week for our Anchor Days.
What your team does:
Our UK Editorial team works with primary sources of law from common law
jurisdictions every day. The team of seven, led by Karen, keeps Clio’s legal
information database accurate and current. Their work supports thousands of
academic and professional organizations around the world. Those organizations
rely on the platform for legal research.
What you’ll work on:
• Review new cases each day and assess how each one affects existing precedent.
• Use a traffic light coding system to log your findings for each case with
precision and consistency.
• Identify changes made by new and amending legislation, then implement those
changes directly on the existing consolidated statutes.
• Record the effective dates of each amendment and reflect them accurately in
the database.
• Work alongside experienced team members to maintain accuracy and quality
across UK common law legal content.
• Demonstrate a keen interest in improving your craft by using AI.
What you may have:
• A law degree with a strong academic record.
• Familiarity with primary and secondary sources of UK law.
• Experience conducting legal research through both hard-copy and electronic
sources.
• The ability to analyze complex legal materials and draw clear, well-reasoned
conclusions.
• Strong attention to detail.
Serious bonus points if you:
• Have a working knowledge of UK, Irish, or US legal systems.
• Have existing editorial experience in a legal or academic context.
• Have experience tracking amendments to primary legislation, regulations, or
case law.
• Have worked with legal research tools such as Lexis, Westlaw, or a
proprietary citator.

The expected salary range for this role is £35,800 to £48,400 GBP. Initial
placement within the range is informed by geographic region, experience, and
skillset, with room to progress as impact and tenure grow. Final offer amounts
will vary based on candidate profile.
