Apply your structural expertise to protect the safety of our borough’s buildings
and communities
From complex commercial schemes to historic landmarks, structural integrity
matters. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll provide specialist technical
oversight that ensures developments across the borough are safe, compliant and
built to last.
What you’ll be doing:
You will assess building work, demolitions and temporary structures to ensure
compliance with the Building Regulations and structural safety standards. Acting
as the service’s structural specialist, you’ll provide expert advice on building
control applications and enforcement investigations, making informed decisions
grounded in professional judgement.
You’ll assess risks on site, determine appropriate action and implement
immediate remedial measures to protect the public where required. Your expertise
will also be used in assessing dangerous structures.
You’ll work closely with the Building Safety Regulator on Higher-Risk Building
projects and manage a varied portfolio that includes major commercial
developments, cultural institutions and the Council’s own property estate.
You’ll provide clear and accurate technical guidance to architects, contractors,
developers and residents, ensuring construction activities comply fully with
legislative requirements.
Alongside your casework, you’ll contribute to the ongoing development of the
service, supporting ISO 9001 quality standards and identifying ways to
strengthen efficiency, consistency and technical excellence across Building
Control.
