About the role
As an Assistant Management Accountant at Halfords, you'll play a vital role in
delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting key business decisions.
Working closely with the Management Accountant team, you'll be involved in
period-end close activities, preparing insightful management reports,
maintaining strong financial controls, and contributing to the smooth operation
of the Record to Report process. This is an excellent opportunity for an

Key responsibilities
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals,
accruals, prepayments, and period-end reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, providing insight
into business performance and key variances.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial
records, ensuring strong controls and data integrity.
• Support month-end, year-end, and audit activities, helping to ensure timely,
accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
• Build effective relationships across the business to gather financial
information and provide meaningful support to stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities
to enhance finance processes, systems, and reporting.
About you
• Part-qualified or currently studying towards a professional accounting
qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including reconciliations,
accruals, and month-end processes.
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with finance systems and large
datasets.
• Highly organised, analytical, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage
multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• A proactive team player with strong communication skills and a commitment to
continuous improvement.
Desirable:
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting.
• Exposure to cost or inventory accounting.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, or Excel automation tools.
