Join our Transformation and Knowledge team and help shape the future of
Nationwide. We're a vibrant, fast-paced, team responsible for delivering
impactful business change that supports Nationwide's strategic ambitions and
enhances outcomes for both our customers and colleagues.
Working closely with stakeholders from across the Society, we lead a diverse
range of initiatives, from improving customer services and strengthening
operational processes to driving efficiency and managing risk. As a Change
Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in leading medium to large-scale change
initiatives, managing key workstreams within strategic programmes, and ensuring
successful business readiness and adoption across Retail, Group Customer
Operations and the wider organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence meaningful change, collaborate with
a wide network of colleagues, and contribute to the delivery of transformation
at pace while maintaining a focus on quality, control, and benefit realisation.
You'll also support and develop Change Consultants within the team and play an
active role in supporting leadership across the Transformation and Knowledge
function.
As part of the Business Services team, you'll work alongside colleagues from
Transformation and Knowledge, Workforce Capacity and Planning, Training, and
Customer Journey Management, helping to deliver change that makes a real
difference across the Society.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your
best.
This is a 12 month secondment opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding
relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues
together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to
home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and
to feel connected.
For this role, you'll be based at your nearest regional office or hub. We value
time spent together to connect with colleagues for collaboration so there will
be a regular requirement to attend our Glasgow, Swindon or Northampton site
approximately (once per month). If you are based at an office location, you'll
be expected to meet our hybrid working requirement of at least two days a week,
or 40% of your working time if part-time, in the office. If you’re based at our
Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will
be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your
application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on
how this works.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change,
as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this
recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a
temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an
application.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll be doing
You will work alongside Senior Change Managers to lead end-to-end change and
retail readiness projects across a diverse portfolio of initiatives impacting
all Retail and Group Customer Operations teams, including the Branch Network,
Telephony, Digital, Complaints, Fraud, AML, and more, across both Nationwide and
Virgin Money. Applying your strategic insight, business change expertise, and
strong stakeholder management skills, you will drive the successful delivery of
change initiatives and ensure intended business outcomes are achieved.
You will be responsible for defining and planning the delivery approach for your
projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, stakeholder
expectations, and agreed timelines. Building and maintaining strong
relationships across the Society will be a key aspect of the role, enabling you
to influence stakeholders and secure the support required to successfully
deliver change. You will also matrix-manage Change Consultants, providing
direction, coaching, and ongoing support to help them develop their capabilities
and achieve successful outcomes.
Working within established governance frameworks, you will proactively identify,
assess, and mitigate risks and issues that could impact customer outcomes,
colleague engagement, or delivery objectives, escalating concerns where
appropriate. You will utilise tools such as Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, and
Microsoft Office applications to manage project activity, monitor progress, and
provide clear reporting to stakeholders.
A key focus of the role will be identifying, validating, and measuring the
outcomes and benefits delivered through change.
As an ambassador for Change Delivery and Performance, you will champion the
needs of both internal and external customers throughout the change lifecycle,
ensuring solutions are practical, sustainable, and deliver measurable value. In
addition, you will support the development and implementation of processes that
comply with FCA and other regulatory or legislative requirements, ensuring they
are clear, operationally effective, aligned to the Society's strategy, and
delivered within its risk appetite.
