GoHenry ia a UK-based fintech company created by parents to pioneer financial education. We empower young people and families to build healthy money habits. But with that responsibility comes a crucial obligation: protecting them from financial crime. We're looking for a Financial Crime Investigator to join our dedicated team in safeguarding our members and platform. You'll perform critical Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and fraud monitoring activities that directly prevent financial harm to millions of young people and their families. This isn't just a compliance function—it's a vital line of defense that enables our members to learn and grow with confidence. If you care about protecting families and our platform and have the eye for detail needed to spot financial threats, we want you on our team. This is a permanent full-time role (37.5 hours a week) in our Financial Crime Team, including on-call cover during the weekends and bank holidays. Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work onsite at our Farnborough office full-time for the first six months. Following successful completion of your probation period, the role will transition to a hybrid arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Financial Crime Knowledge * 2–4 years of professional experience in financial crime investigation, AML, fraud analytics, or compliance within a regulated financial services setting. • Deep, applied knowledge of money laundering schemes and payment fraud—not just textbook theory. • Hands-on experience using financial crime tools: transaction monitoring systems, case management platforms, and analytical software. • Strong grasp of UK regulatory requirements: AML Regulations 2017, POCA, Counter-Terrorist Financing regulations, and FCA guidance on financial crime controls. Data Analysis & Investigation • Strong ability to work with data—spotting patterns, identifying anomalies, and drawing conclusions from complex information. • Proficiency in Excel or similar tools for data analysis; comfortable manipulating data to surface insights. • Skilled investigator: you follow evidence trails, ask probing questions, and reach sound conclusions despite incomplete information. • Skill in writing clear, compelling investigative reports that explain complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Operational Capability • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting strict deadlines. • Excellent organisational skills and discipline around time management. • Meticulous attention to detail; you catch errors and inconsistencies that matter. • Self-directed and reliable; you take ownership of your work and outcomes. Collaboration & Learning • Fluent in English, with excellent spoken and written communication skills. • Naturally collaborative; you work effectively across departments, build trust, and understand that financial crime prevention requires teamwork. • Curious and proactive; you stay current with emerging threats, industry developments, and your own professional growth. • Comfortable asking questions and learning; you're intellectually humble enough to know what you don't know. • Forward-thinking mindset; you anticipate risks and emerging issues rather than only reacting. Preferred Background & Qualifications • Experience in a regulated financial institution (bank, fintech, or payments company). • Familiarity with transaction monitoring platforms or case management systems. • Background in KYC, customer due diligence, or onboarding compliance. • Professional qualification in AML compliance (ICA, CAMS, or equivalent). • Experience in fintech, digital payments, or emerging payment channels. • Experience in fraud detection, chargeback analysis, or payment fraud prevention. • Understanding of financial crime risks in the fintech or youth finance spaces. Investigation & Case Management • Own complex cases from alert to closure, making sound judgments with incomplete information and defending your conclusions with evidence and clear reasoning. • Conduct meticulous deep-dive investigations into suspicious transactions, analysing patterns across multiple data sources to uncover the full picture of financial crime risk. • Manage a mixed caseload simultaneously—balancing urgent cases with thorough analysis—while consistently meeting tight regulatory deadlines. • Document investigations with clarity and rigor, producing reports that drive internal decisions and withstand regulatory scrutiny. Compliance & Risk Management • Identify customers and transactions that pose AML, sanctions, or fraud risk, applying your knowledge of money laundering typologies and financial crime red flags to catch what others miss. • Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) assessments and Politically Exposed Person (PEP) screening, escalating sanctions matches to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in line with regulatory obligations. • Manage the timely, accurate reporting of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). • Ensure our platform maintains strict adherence to UK AML regulations, Counter-Terrorist Financing requirements, and internal compliance standards. Financial Crime Analysis & Intelligence • Analyse customer behaviour and transaction patterns to identify emerging fraud typologies, money laundering schemes, and systemic risks that could harm our members or platform. • Review and assess inbound UK chargebacks, determining whether fraud is first-party or third-party, and appealing decisions where appropriate to protect the business. • Translate raw data into actionable insights—spotting anomalies that signal risk and proposing control enhancements that prevent future incidents. • Stay ahead of emerging threats by researching new financial crime tactics, regulatory updates, and industry best practices. Stakeholder Collaboration • Support Member Services and Operations teams in resolving customer issues while maintaining a financial crime perspective. • Work cross-functionally with colleagues across the business to balance customer experience with robust compliance. • Maintain open communication with regulators and external stakeholders where required. • Share insights and learnings with the broader Financial Crime team to strengthen our collective defense. All the essentials you would expect, including a workplace pension plan, 33 days of holiday (including public holidays), and great company events! Plus: • GoFlex • Work from Home, Office, or a mix of both • Your Birthday Day off * 25 days annual leave, in addition to 8 UK bank holidays • Excellent Induction & onboarding program with ongoing learning & development throughout your career • A choice between Bupa Health Cash Plan or Bupa Private Medical • Death in service – 4x your annual salary from month 1 • Physical and Mental Wellbeing support and platforms for you and your family • Family-friendly leave policies • Enhanced maternity leave – 20 weeks full basic pay after 2 years’ service and 26 weeks full basic pay after 3 years’ service • Paternity leave – 4 weeks full pay after probation • Salary Sacrifice options
