What You'll Do: The Accountant, Payroll performs duties related to the timely processing of the company’s payroll including maintaining related records, preparing and filing tax reports, voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, and updating procedures. As business needs require, this position also assists the Accounts Payable function with invoice processing, vendor account maintenance, and payment support. This position will perform complex, detailed, and disciplined work using standard methodologies in analysis, documentation, implementation and support of accounting and finance procedures. The Accountant, Payroll is a detail-oriented, analytical, organized, self-sufficient, critical thinker, who has excellent communication skills. 10% of time • Accounts Payable Process vendor invoices for payment, including matching to purchase orders/contracts, coding to the correct GL accounts, and obtaining required approvals Research and resolve vendor invoice discrepancies, past-due balances, and payment inquiries Assist with new vendor set up and maintenance, including W-9 collection and 1099 reporting support Support timely and accurate processing of check runs, ACH, and wire payments Assist with monthly Accounts Payable reconciliations and review of aging reports Provide backup coverage to the Accounts Payable team during peak periods, absences, or as workload requires Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all employee and financial information 90% of time • Payroll Prepare and submit accurate payroll processing using the Ceridian/Dayforce platform for both exempt and non-exempt employees on a bi-weekly basis Work with managers to ensure employee hours are submitted accurately and approved on a timely basis every pay period. Resolve any discrepancies directly with employees and/or their manager Update employee records related to 401k deferrals, employer match, and 401k loans in the payroll system Verify and process 401k payroll data to ensure timely submissions Set up correct garnishment and tax levy calculations as required. Complete and process required paperwork as needed Process off-cycle payrolls as needed Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws including final pay rules, and municipality tax setups Process accurate and timely year-end reporting as it relates to W2, and 401K census Generate payroll analytics prior to payroll funding to ensure accuracy of payroll Partner with Human Resources, FP&A, and third party to ensure configurations with the payroll system are optimized Create and maintain payroll and general accounting standard operating procedures and establish consistent policies Assist with successful quarterly and year-end audits in areas related to payroll and general accounting inquiries Serve as the point of contact for all payroll-related and operating expense questions Research, analyze, and resolve problems or questions. Proactively work with team members to reduce issues and create positive outcomes Complete in a timely manner assigned balance sheet reconciliations Performs all other duties as assigned This is a fully remote position in these states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MT, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI What You'll Bring: Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience 2-3 years of payroll processing experience Experience running payroll in a multi-state environment Strong background in payroll tax compliance, reconciliation, and reporting Previous experience with all types of garnishments, levies, liens, support orders, and subpoenas Familiarity with benefits rules and regulations. Superior knowledge of Microsoft Excel and analytical reporting Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy.
